Birth of this Blog - Part 2

Some of you may wonder.. what happened after the last posting on getting the class to buy something special for the class of CS3216? The idea of a blog surfaced:

“I think Prof Ben would like a gift more intangible and related to what we do in this course. He's a very abstract and idea person.. I think Kelly and most of the TAs are something like that too. Instead of rushing all the way down.. A fountain pen will not have much meaning because everyone know it's mainly one person's effort, as opposed to an effort by the class.

Can't we like set up a blogspot account (name can be weloveprofben.blogspot.com; welovecs3216.blogspot.com watever), invite everyone to add as many entries as they can by tonight, have some of us re-design the site, and show Prof Ben and Kelly the websites that's created. The goal of the blog is for us to express our thanks, highlight interesting moments when we are working on projects, put up photos of our project teams together. I think they would like that much better. Of course.. if someone could put up some flash animation on the site that would be awesome. To have 50 students posting 2-3 entries.. - We will have more than 100 entries!! I think that's much more meaningful.”

One of us showed the support for the idea of having a class blog later on.
“Even though we're all busy with FP I don't think it'll take too much time to just type a few words of thanks on a blog! The benefit of doing this is also that those who aren't on their email RIGHT NOW can do it quickly during class later :) We can pass around the message to everyone to write before class and then show the blog to Dr Ben and Kelly after class...

Perhaps there's no need to create animation specially for the blog since we're all short of time, but maybe we can upload our flash animations/animated gifs for FP onto the blog here and there so it's sort of a random happy shiny mini-showcase of all the FPs? :):):)”

Another person comments that tonight might be a little rushed. Perhaps we can show the blog two weeks later?
“Putting together a nice blog would be cool. Since everyone’s busy beyond busy, why not just do it on the SOC wiki? Just toss in our comments! Then if anyone is up to it, he/she can reorganize the information, add images, etc. No commitment!

Besides, we don’t need to populate it by tonight; we’ve still got like 2 weeks. Or 1 week, if we were to hope that our page will make Prof Ben all warm and fuzzy and boost his generosity in dishing out points grin.”
That was the story of how this blog was formed. :)
